Congratulations to Terry Francona! The Red Sox have extended his contract for at least three more years, and rightly so. Francona has gone 8-0 in World Series games in the 21st century. No other manager can be said to have done that...I'm not sure if any other manager has ever done that in any century. I'm glad to see that extension take place.
Josh Beckett seems to be picking up right where he left off last season. The word is that he is pretty strong in batting practice down in Florida. If the big B stays healthy, I really believe that he may become one of the best pitchers in the game. I don't think he will ever reach Nolan's numbers...I don't think anyone will ever top those. But he will certainly reach some milestones. I remember watching him in last year's playoffs...there were times when the expression on his face seemed to say, "This isn't supposed to be this easy..."
Well, we actually have some games this week! And the first televised game for the Sox on Friday evening. I'll be watching on MLB TV. I need to hound AT&T Uverse and get them to take on NESN down here in Texas...Heh.
Also...if anyone read my last post about getting to sing "Take Me Out To the Ballgame" at Rangers Ballpark...I seriously hope they don't schedule me to sing at a Red Sox game. It probably would not be appreciated if I walked out on the field to sing wearing my Yastrzemski jersey. Of course, at least half of the fans at the ballpark would love it...Hahahaha....

Take Me Out....
No, I'm not talking about Franz Ferdinand...
So, I got this letter today from the Texas Rangers, and it goes like this:
Dear Jeff:
Congratulations! You have been selected to sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame" prior to a 2008 Texas Rangers home game.
The Texas Rangers will begin scheduling performance dates in early March. We will follow up with you either by letter or by email with a date and further details and instructions that you will need for your performance.
We appreciate your support of Texas Rangers Baseball and look forward to seeing you perform at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington in 2008!

Huzzah!! This is pretty exciting! I'll just have to concentrate really hard so I don't sing, "Root, root, root for the RED SOX!!!" Hahahahaha....

The Rangers signed my favorite Rangers player yesterday to a 5 year contract worth 22 mil. Ian Kinsler will stay with the team for a while. That's great news.
Also been reading articles on the Red Sox page. I love the one about Jacoby Ellsbury (my family's favorite Red Sox player) and the parade he got in his home town in Oregon last November. How cool is that?
TTFN, y'all!

Ooh, That Smell! Can't You Smell That Smell?
What's that smell?
It's in the air. Faint, but noticeable.
Do you smell it?
Of course you do. You're a Red Sox fan, too.
Pitchers and catchers report to camp tomorrow. This weekend, Spring Training is officially on.
Happy sigh.
